When was IBA formed? The answer to this question varies contextually as the formation of the elected representatives happened at a different time than the passing of the constitution. March 11, 2019, was when the first seven Board Members were elected. The constitution was initially drafted and passed by the Board in May of 2019, it is yet to be ratified by IBA’s membership.

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. The Innovative Business Association - IBA emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. We’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Contact us to learn more.

The IBA logo is a modern take on a traditional shield. The navy blue and white colours pay homage to UofT and by extension; the Institute of Management and Innovation, and the UTM Department of Management - to which IBA is directly associated. The bird breaking through the shield represents challenging the status quo, taking risks, and being innovative. The eagle is UTM's mascot and for IBA, a symbol of confidence, resilience, and excellence.

Dare to Soar
Dare to Soar completes the IBA shield with an audacious prompt. Wildlife research shows only one in ten eaglets make it into adulthood. It is the most resourceful, resilient, and daring birds that survive. Our motto motivates us to set high standards and do everything in our capacity to execute quality initiatives that leave a positive impact on our community. For the students we serve, Dare to Soar challenges them to seek new opportunities and reach their full potential.

The Innovative Business Association is dedicated to enabling students with various opportunities to learn and grow beyond the fundamental constructs of the classroom. We aspire to host initiatives that offer unique and memorable experiences for all our stakeholders. By providing avenues for networking, maintaining a strong focus on professional development, and adding value to the surrounding community, we aim to help shape students of today to become the business leaders of tomorrow.
