Dodge For The Cure
Annual charity event in the form of a dodgeball tournament wherein the participants pay an entry fee to play. The proceeds then go to the UTM Run for the Cure to help support the Canadian Cancer Society. The Canadian Cancer Society is a national, community-based organization of staff and volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer. This year we hope to hold the event in February in an in-person format.
5 Days of Giving
This event will be held in February due to the fall semester being online and is in collaboration with a charity (to be decided) whose primary focus will be helping children in need. Over the 5 days, students can donate in cash or kind and as an incentive, they will receive a raffle ticket. Day 1 students will donate school supplies; Day 2 students will donate toys; Day 3 is henna day and students can donate personal items (unused toothbrushes, combs, etc..); Day 4 is a de-stressor day and students will have the opportunity to make cards for the children and money will be raised via a bake sale; Day 5 is volunteer day and students can sign up to help with the wrap up and bake sale. The raffle prize winners will be announced on the 5th Day.
IBA Cares is an event held in support of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. CAMH is Canada's largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world's leading research centres in its field. CAMH is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and is a Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization Collaborating Centre. This year the event will be held on Zoom in October. Registration will be $5 and names will be entered in a raffle. At the end of the event, winners will be chosen and will receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card. The UTM students will be allowed to practise their networking skills in breakout rooms with reps that have different experience levels within the company. All the students who attended will get PSDP points and a list of rep LinkedIn contacts after the event.
